We are currently seeking a full-time or part-time employee to act as Project Coorinator.

Job Description

The Project Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of Bach Viet’s Workforce Investment Act Small Grassroots OrganizationConnecting with the One-Stop Delivery System project.  .  The Project Coordinator works closely with Bach Viet’s team and under the supervision of the Program Manager.

 

Project Management

a.       Coordinate publication of articles (managing and ensuring timely publication) among community partners.

b.        Conduct outreach with non-profit organizations, community based organizations, and faith-based organizations for outreach opportunities.

c.       Assist in developing and implementing program assessment tools, and analyzing data and feedback from projects to document community concerns/needs.

d         Assist in program reporting and grant writing with the Executive Director and other staff members.

 

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelors/Associates Degree from an accredited college/university in any related field
  2. Proficiency in English and Vietnamese
  3. Strong verbal and written communication

Salary and Benefits:

- Living Stipend $18,000/year (Full-Time); or $9,000/year (Part-Time)

- 11 months & 1700 hours commitment (Full-Time); or 900 hours (Part-Time)

- $4,725 Education Award (upon completion of service Full-Time) or $2,632 (Part-Time)

- Student Loan Forbearance

- Health Insurance (Full-Time ONLY)

What is the difference between the Dan Than Corps Program and the Americorps Program? The Dan Than Corps Program is an Americorps program administered through NAVASA, National Alliance of Vietnamese American Service Agencies, a national Vietnamese American nonprofit ( www.navasa.org). The AmeriCorps program is often referred to as a domestic Peace Corps program. The program promotes community service and civic engagement. Therefore, it is not a job but a service opportunity for individuals to contribute to addressing community needs as well as to gain personal development, professional growth, and invaluable skills that apply across disciplines.

What is the Bach Viet Association's relationship with NAVASA? NAVASA administers the program while the Bach Viet Association, Inc. (Bach Viet) is one of the host sites. . Currently Bach Viet is recruiting a the position of Project Coordinator to Bach Viet’s Workforce Investment Act Small Grassroots Organization – Connecting with the One-Stop Delivery System project. The Project Coordinator will work as a Dan Than member at the Bach Viet host site in Sacramento to provide direct services to Vietnamese and Slavic families.

 Compensation (Stipend) For 2007-2008 service year, full-time Dan Than member receives a living stipend of $18,000/year to be paid twice a month. You will also receive a $4725 educational award upon completion of your service. This financial award can be used to pay for your current or future loans up to 7 years.

What is The Student Loan Forbearance? Student Loan Forbearance is the option to have your student loan payments deferred until you complete your service term. The Dan Than Corps Program will pay the interest accrued during that time.

Is there any opportunity to be employed by NAVASA or Bach Viet after I finish my fellowship? Employment opportunities very much depend on the situation at the time.
